Fire Scene Analysis

Jerry James and Associates quickly dispatches the Certified Fire Investigator to the loss site after receiving an assignment. The investigator will conduct a perimeter examination of the fire scene, as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association in their NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation. We begin from the least amount of damage to the heaviest damaged area, documenting each phase of the investigation or scene analysis with digital photography. JJA uses caution and takes preventative steps to avoid spoliation issues.

Evidence will be identified, photographed, and visually examined. Available witnesses will be identified and interviewed. The scene will be completely documented with photographs before the first piece of evidence is picked up or analyzed. After adequate information is collected, a hypothesis will be developed and tested. The claims handler will be contacted with information learned and the preliminary hypothesis. Upon request, the report will be prepared along with a copy of the digital photos.

Electrical fire scene examinations involve the Electrical Engineer working with the Certified Fire Investigator to determine the cause of and negate other fire cause possibilities in the area or point of origin.

Evidence Storage

Jerry James and Associates understands that insurance companies do not have the space to store evidence. We offer a secure evidence storage facility, complete with a sprinkler system for our clients. Each piece of evidence is tagged with a case number and entered into our proprietary evidence tracking software system. Our tracking system allows us to track the evidence from the date it is first entered, through all future litigation and it will remain in the custody and responsibility of JJA until a written evidence release is received from the appropriate party.

Most importantly, we offer pricing based on the space that evidence occupies (square footage), and this adds up to a great savings for our clients!
